Strategies
Tradyn has four strategies, each in three risk levels: Prudent, Balanced and Aggressive. You don't need to set any number yourself: each plan is sized on the coin you picked. The coin's page lists DCA Scalper first, marks it Recommended and starts the plan on it, whatever the coin.
| Strategy | In one line | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| DCA Scalper (recommended) | Averages down, takes profit on the rebound. | Coins you are happy to hold |
| Grid Scalper | Profits from every bounce inside a range. | Choppy, sideways markets |
| Dip Sniper | Buys sharp drops, sells the rebound. | Volatile coins that bounce back |
| Momentum Rider | Catches breakouts, trails the move. | Trending coins with volume |
How plans are sized
When you open a coin's page, each plan is calibrated on two things:
- The coin's own volatility: its typical 5-minute move, the median high-to-low range of its 5-minute candles over the last 4 hours. A calm coin gets tighter targets than a wild one. It leaves out prices nobody could trade, as the replay and a grid's range do.
- What trading it really costs: a buy then a sell measured live on the coin's route, at your bot's trade size. Targets are always set above this break-even, with a margin: 3.5 points in Prudent, 2.5 in Balanced, 1.5 in Aggressive. The wider the margin, the less of each win goes to fees.
The plan's lines show the result for your coin and budget, for example "Sells at +4.9%, cuts at -7.35%". Once launched, a bot keeps its settings, but it re-measures its coin's costs every 5 minutes and never takes a profit below its real break-even. See Exits and protections.
Every preset also caps the slippage of its swaps, from the coin's liquidity: 1% on pools of $1M or more, 1.5% from $200k, 2.5% below, at every risk level.
DCA Scalper
Buys a first slice, adds bigger slices if the price keeps falling, and sells everything as soon as the average position is in profit. Then starts again.
| Prudent | Balanced | Aggressive | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Safety buys, at most | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| Each one bigger by | ×1.2 | ×1.3 | ×1.5 |
| Adds a slice every drop of | 3.5× the typical move | 3× | 2.5× |
| Stop-loss on the average price | 3× the drop between slices | 4× the drop between slices | 30% |
| Pause between cycles | 4 min | 2 min | 1 min |
| Max loss | 20% of the budget | 25% | 35% |
- The first slice is sized so that it and every safety buy fit in your budget together (0.01 SOL at least).
- The drop between slices stays between 2.5% and 15%. The take-profit is 1.2× the typical move on the average price, at most 10% unless break-even plus the margin is higher: it always clears break-even by the margin.
Averaging down
DCA keeps buying while the price falls. It suits coins you'd be fine holding through a drop. In a crash, it holds a large position until its stop-loss or max loss sells it.
Grid Scalper
Spreads your budget over a ladder of prices around the current one. Each time the price drops a step it buys, each time it climbs a step it sells. Many small wins while the coin moves sideways.
At launch, the bot buys the steps that sit above the current price, so it has coins to sell into a rise; the steps below wait for dips. Your budget is split evenly between the steps.
| Prudent | Balanced | Aggressive | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Range around the price | ±18% to ±50% | ±12% to ±40% | ±8% to ±25% |
| Step size, at least | 2.2× the typical 5-minute move | 1.5× the typical move | 1× the typical move |
| Stop-loss | 8% under the range | 10% under the range | 15% under the range |
| Follow breakouts | Off | Off | On |
| Max loss | 12% of the budget | 15% | 25% |
- Range: sized from the coin's high and low of the last 24 hours, within the limits above.
- Steps: between 3 and 40, and at least 0.01 SOL each, so a small budget gets fewer steps.
- Stop-loss: if the price falls that far under the range, the bot sells everything and stops.
- Follow breakouts: when the price leaves the range upward while the bot holds nothing, the whole grid moves up with it instead of sitting idle.
In a lasting decline
A grid buys more as the price falls. If the coin keeps falling through the range, the bot ends up holding coins worth less and less, until its stop-loss or max loss sells them.
Dip Sniper
Waits for a sudden drop from the recent high, buys it, and sells on the bounce. A stop-loss and a time limit cut trades that do not recover. Repeats automatically.
| Prudent | Balanced | Aggressive | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buys a drop of | 3× the typical move | 2.5× | 2× |
| …from the high of the last | 2 h | 60 min | 30 min |
| Take-profit | 1.2× the typical move | 1.2× | 1.5× |
| Stop-loss | 1.25× the take-profit | 1.5× | 2× |
| Closes the trade after | 6 h | 4 h | 2 h |
| Pause between trades | 10 min | 5 min | 2 min |
| Ends after losing trades in a row | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| Max loss | 15% of the budget | 20% | 30% |
- The drop it buys stays between 1.5% and 15%, the take-profit at most 25% (unless break-even plus the margin is higher), the stop-loss between 3% and 40%.
- Break-even stop: once the trade is up 60% of the way to its take-profit, its stop moves up to just above break-even, so a trade that was winning closes without a loss instead of riding back down. Only a sudden drop bigger than that cushion can still slip under it.
- Time limit: a trade that hasn't reached a target is closed at market after the time above, whatever the price.
- After the number of losing trades in a row shown above, the bot ends: it stops and returns its SOL.
Momentum Rider
Buys when the price breaks out above its recent range, then follows the move with a trailing stop so winners can run while losses stay small.
| Prudent | Balanced | Aggressive | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buys a rise of | 3.5× the typical move | 3× | 2.5× |
| …above the low of the last | 45 min | 30 min | 20 min |
| Trailing distance under the peak | 0.8× the typical move | 1× | 1.2× |
| Closes the trade after | 3 h | 2 h | 1 h |
| Pause between trades | 4 min | 2 min | 1 min |
| Ends after losing trades in a row | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| Max loss | 15% of the budget | 20% | 30% |
- The breakout it buys stays between 2% and 20%, and the stop-loss equals it (between 3% and 25%).
- Trailing take-profit: once the trade is up enough to cover its costs (at least 0.8× the breakout), the bot tracks the highest price and sells when the price falls back by the trailing distance. Its floor never sits under break-even.
- A fixed take-profit at 4× the trailing start caps very large moves.
Protections every preset has
- A stop-loss, per trade or under the grid.
- A max loss for the whole bot: when its P&L reaches that share of its budget, it stops and returns its SOL.
- Profit-taking sales that never sell under break-even, and protective exits just above it. See Exits and protections.
You can change any of these numbers, or remove protections, with Customize. See Custom settings.
